22+31+25 = 78

Three days in and Arthur is very much back in the swing of things:

July 13:
"Got into camp tonight. Did 22 miles, even with the snow slowing me down. None of it was too bad, even a little fun sometimes. Met 4 other PCTers."

July 14:
"Heat wasn't bad, there was plenty of shade. My longest day yet, 31 miles! I feel great still. Got a campsite near lakes but with little mosquitoes."

July 15:
"Did 25 miles today. Plenty of snow, nothing too sketchy and I think that's the end of it. First views of lassen! Last of castle peak."

 As some of you already know, Arthur is home in St. Louis. Several days after he got back on the trail near Lake Tahoe, he found that hiking wasn't fun anymore. So we helped him get to Reno and on a plane to STL.  I'll let Arthur share whatever other thoughts he would like. And hopefully he'll share a bunch of photos, too.

South into the Sierras

 Arthur got back on the trail Sunday after more than a week off the trail due to his changes of plans. After taking a train to Sacramento and then a bus to Truckee, he spent a few more days near Donner Summit regrouping his supplies and planning for the next leg of his journey.  Right now his plan is to hike south through the Sierra's to Mt. Whitney, which will take about a month. From there he'll figure out if the conditions in Washington State are favorable.  Today (Wednesday) he is south of Lake Tahoe and entering sections of trail he has never hiked before. The first few days back on the trail were rough, he says, but he's getting his trail legs back and is excited to experience new scenery.  It's a perfect time of year for this section of trail. I'm hoping he'll have enough signal to send photos soon.
